Movers in the West Village, Manhattan
-
Moves inside the West Village or to any other borough, usually finished in a single day. Local moving starts from $99 an hour, and the final price is confirmed in a free written quote. We plan the load around your stoop, your stairs and the curb on your one-way block.
-
Full home moves out of townhouses, brownstone floor-throughs and walk-ups. We pad banisters and door frames, wrap every piece of furniture and set up the new place room by room.
-
Design studios, small offices and shops along Bleecker Street and Hudson Street. We pack equipment and files, label every box and move you on a schedule that fits your landlord and keeps your business running.
-
Prefer one price up front? Ask for a flat fee quote based on your inventory, the floors at both ends and the distance, so the number stays the same on move day.
-
Old townhouses often hold paintings, mirrors and antiques. Art and fragile pieces get custom crating and careful handling on tight turns and steep stoop steps.
-
Renovating a townhouse or waiting on a new lease? We pick up from your West Village home, store your things at our Red Hook facility in Brooklyn and deliver them when you are ready.
-
Leaving the West Village for another state? Our long-distance movers pack, load and drive your shipment to your new home, with storage in between if your dates do not line up.
-
Studios, one-bedrooms and family apartments, in walk-ups and in the few elevator buildings near the river. We send the COI when a building asks for one and carry everything by hand where there is no elevator at all.

What West Village Movers Run Into
The West Village has some of the oldest housing in Manhattan and a street grid that does not follow the rest of the city. Here is what our movers plan for before move day.
A Street Grid of Its Own
The West Village streets were laid out before the Manhattan grid, so West 4th Street crosses West 10th, 11th and 12th Streets and many blocks run at odd angles. Most streets are narrow and one way. We map the approach before move day, so the truck arrives from the right direction and does not have to circle the block.
Townhouses, Stoops and Narrow Stairs
Brownstones and townhouses usually mean a stoop outside and a narrow, winding staircase inside. Large sofas and box springs may not make the turn. Measure big pieces before move day and tell us about them, so we can bring tools to take legs and frames apart and put them back together at the new place. North of 14th Street, movers in Chelsea work with the same brownstone stoops and narrow stairs.
Tight Parking on Residential Blocks
Blocks like Perry Street, Charles Street and Bank Street are lined with parked cars and street trees, with little open curb. We plan the closest legal spot and bring dollies for the extra walk when the truck cannot stop at your door. Further down the river, our Tribeca movers plan around the same kind of tight curbs on cobblestone blocks.
Inside the Congestion Relief Zone
The whole West Village sits inside the zone that starts at 60th Street, so a moving truck pays a toll to enter it. Ask about it when you get your quote, so the total you see covers the whole day.
West Village Areas We Move
The West Village is small, but its blocks feel very different from one another, and each one changes how the move runs.
Bleecker Street and Christopher Street
Walk-up apartments above shops, cafes and bars, close to the Christopher Street subway stop at Sheridan Square. Busy sidewalks and delivery trucks make an early start the easiest option. East of Sixth Avenue, our Greenwich Village crew handles moves around Washington Square and NYU housing.
Perry, Charles and Bank Streets
Quiet, tree-lined blocks of brownstones and townhouses, many inside the Greenwich Village Historic District. Moves here are mostly about stoops, narrow halls and protecting old woodwork and floors.
The Far West Village by Hudson River Park
The blocks west of Hudson Street toward the river mix converted warehouses, newer elevator buildings and older walk-ups. Elevator buildings here often want a COI and a booked time slot, so check with your management early. If you are trading a West Village walk-up for a loft, we can help with moving in SoHo too.
