Movers in the East Village, Manhattan
-
Moves inside the East Village or to any other borough, usually finished in a single day. Local moving starts from $99 an hour, and the final price is confirmed in a free written quote. We plan the load around your stairs and the curb on your block.
-
Full home moves out of East Village walk-ups, Alphabet City rentals and newer elevator buildings. We protect stairwells and hallways, wrap every piece of furniture and set up the new place room by room.
-
Restaurants, shops, studios and small offices fill the East Village. We pack equipment, stock and files, label every box and move you on a schedule that keeps your business running.
-
Prefer one price up front? Ask for a flat fee quote based on your inventory, the floors at both ends and the distance, so the number stays the same on move day.
-
Art, antiques and framed pieces get custom crating and careful handling, which matters on the narrow stairs of older East Village buildings.
-
Between leases or leaving for the summer? We pick up from your East Village apartment, store your things at our Red Hook facility in Brooklyn and deliver them when you are ready.
-
Leaving the East Village for another state? Our long-distance movers pack, load and drive your shipment to your new home, with storage in between if your dates do not line up.
-
Studios, shares and family apartments, from fifth-floor walk-ups to doorman buildings. We carry everything up and down the stairs and book the service elevator where there is one.

How Much Do East Village Movers Cost?
For a local move in the East Village we charge from $99 an hour, and every quote is confirmed in writing before move day. The total depends on how much you are moving, the stairs or elevator at both buildings and how far you are going.
Want one number with no hourly math? Ask about flat rate movers when you request your quote.
What East Village Movers Run Into
East Village moves are decided by stairs, timing and the curb more than by distance. Here is what our movers plan for before move day.
Walk-Up Buildings
Most East Village housing is in four to six-story walk-ups with tight stairwells. Tell us your floor and measure large pieces before move day, so we know if anything has to come apart. Chinatown walk-ups are just as tight, and our Chinatown movers take the same careful approach there.
The Student Rush
With NYU and Cooper Union nearby, late August, early September and the end of May are the busiest weeks for moves here. Book early if your lease turns over then, or pick a mid-month date for more choice of time slots. Students near Columbia deal with the same calendar, which our Upper West Side movers plan for as well.
Tight Curbs and Busy Streets
Restaurant deliveries, bike lanes and street seating leave little room for a truck on many blocks. We plan the closest legal spot ahead of time, and commercial trucks are not allowed on the FDR Drive, so moves from Avenue C and D run along the avenues.
Inside the Congestion Relief Zone
The whole East Village sits inside the zone that starts at 60th Street, so a moving truck pays a toll to enter it. Ask about it when you get your quote, so the total you see covers the whole day.
East Village Areas We Move
The East Village covers very different blocks, and each one changes how the move runs.
St. Marks Place and Astor Place
Walk-ups above shops and restaurants, plus newer elevator buildings near Astor Place. Crowded sidewalks make early starts the easiest option.
Alphabet City
Avenues A through D, with tenement walk-ups, rentals and larger complexes near the East River. Stairs set the pace, so tell us your floor up front. South of Houston Street the tenement blocks continue, and our Lower East Side moving crew handles those stairs every week.
Tompkins Square and East 10th Street
Brownstones and pre-war buildings around Tompkins Square Park, where tree-lined blocks and narrow curbs call for a careful truck plan. When East Village renters move uptown, our Upper East Side moving services cover the co-op side of that move.
