What Inwood Movers Run Into
Inwood sits at the very top of Manhattan, bordered by parks and water on most sides. Moves here are shaped by big buildings, a few main streets and the way in and out. Here is what our movers plan for before move day.
Large Pre-War Buildings
A lot of Inwood housing is in big pre-war elevator buildings with courtyards and long hallways. The walk from your door to the truck can be longer than it looks, so tell us your floor and where the elevator is, and we will bring enough dollies and movers. If you are moving in Washington Heights, just south of Dyckman Street, add the hills to that plan.
Parkway Truck Bans
Commercial trucks are not allowed on the Henry Hudson Parkway, including the Henry Hudson Bridge, or on the Harlem River Drive. Moves heading downtown run along Broadway and the avenues, and we plan the route before the truck leaves. Our Harlem movers work around the same Harlem River Drive ban on the way downtown.
Bridges to the Bronx
The Broadway Bridge and the University Heights Bridge at 207th Street link Inwood to the Bronx. They make short trips across the Harlem River easy, but traffic on Broadway backs up near the bridge at rush hour, so we time departures around it.
Dyckman Street and Broadway Curbs
Dyckman Street and Broadway are lined with shops and restaurants, and evenings and weekends get crowded. We plan the closest legal spot ahead of time and start early to finish before the busy hours.
Inwood Areas We Move
Inwood is compact, but each part of it changes how the move runs.
Seaman Avenue and Park Terrace
Large pre-war elevator buildings and co-ops along Inwood Hill Park and Isham Park. Many have managing agents who ask for a COI and set move hours, so we confirm both ahead of time. Moving across town to the East Side? Our movers in Yorkville handle the same co-op rules in pre-war buildings there.
Dyckman Street and Payson Avenue
Elevator buildings and walk-ups near the southern end of Inwood, close to Fort Tryon Park. Busy restaurant blocks mean an early start is the easiest option.
207th Street and East of Broadway
Walk-ups and mid-size buildings on Sherman Avenue, Vermilyea Avenue and the streets toward the Harlem River. Stairs set the pace, so tell us your floor up front. Further down the Harlem River, our East Harlem crew handles the same mix of walk-ups and stair carries.

Most managed and co-op buildings ask for a certificate of insurance before the move. We send it to your managing agent ahead of time, so ask your building for its exact wording early.

Not for a move that stays uptown, because Inwood is at the far north end of Manhattan. If your new home is at or below 60th Street, trucks pay a toll to enter that zone, so mention it when you request your quote.
